Day on the Hill

TACP’s Day on the Hill will be on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, in conjunction with our Mid-Year Training and Vendor Expo.

If you signed up to ride the bus, your name should be on the attached list (must sign into yourmembership). If you are not on this list, there are only a few seats remaining so please sign up quickly.

The bus will be leaving from the Sonesta Nashville Hotel promptly at 8:00 AM. We plan to arrive at the Cordell Hull Building around 8:30-8:45 AM, depending on traffic. THP will assist with entry into the building through security. We will gather for a group photo, taken by a MNPD photographer, prior to everyone dispersing throughout the building for the morning.

As calendars change throughout the week, we will provide you with an updated calendar on either Friday afternoon or Monday of committee hearings featuring the bills that TACP is following for this session.

You are encouraged to reach out to your representatives and senators now and set meetings while you are there. A tentative schedule of events is attached. This will be updated should changes be necessary.

2025 THSO Scholarships Attend TACP Meetings

Funding from grant THSO-2025-TACP-SA-00273, provided by the Tennessee Highway Safety Office (THSO) to the Tennessee Association of Chiefs of Police (TACP), provides funding for the association to offer scholarships to allow police chiefs from smaller agencies across Tennessee to attend the association’s bi-monthly training meetings. This initiative aims to support professional development and networking opportunities for chiefs in smaller departments, helping them access crucial training and resources that might otherwise be difficult to afford.

Scholarships are available for the upcoming June, October and December meetings. Please click here to complete the application

Scholarships cover two nights of lodging (Wednesday and Thursday) and per diem. If selected, recipients are responsible for making and guaranteeing their own hotel reservations with the Sonesta Nashville Airport through the reservation link provided by the TACP office. This initiative provides an excellent opportunity for police chiefs from small Tennessee agencies to participate in valuable training sessions with minimal financial burden.

To be eligible for the scholarship, recipients must attend the training sessions on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Please note that if a cancellation occurs after the hotel’s cancellation deadline, the scholarship will not cover the cancellation fee, and the recipient will be responsible for that cost. This ensures scholarship spots are used effectively by those committed to attending.
