Middle Tennessee State University Police Department


The Middle Tennessee State University Police Department is accepting applications for Police Officer positions. Applicants with no experience are encouraged to apply for the Police Officer 1 position. This entry level position will provide selected candidates with the skills and training to be a certified police officer in Tennessee.

Certified Police Officers with a minimum of two (2) years of experience are encouraged to apply for the Police Officer 2 position.

Candidates are required to have:

  • Proven knowledge to lead the police department. This can be established through one or more of the following: bachelor’s in criminal justice/related field, specialized law enforcement leadership training, demonstrated leadership with a police or public safety department.
  • Seven or more years of progressively responsible experience in the law enforcement field, including experience with supervisory/command and administrative duties.
  • Certification as a Police Officer by the State of Tennessee Law Enforcement Standards and a valid Tennessee driver’s license.
  • The desire and ability to fulfill the duties of a patrol officer, both independently and as back-up for other officers, as needed given the size of the department.
  • Subject to Background Check, along with the ability to pass a physical and psychological exam by a physician approved by the Town.
